Depuis peu, le "mouvement" est un sujet qui m'interpelle beaucoup. Un mot qui semble être pour moi l'intersection parfaite entre mon cursus aux Beaux-Arts et en école de cinéma.
Images en mouvement: Une définition basique de la vidéo dont la découverte et la compréhension me renverra interroger mon travail d'autrefois qui était essentiellement des peintures réalistes figés dans un cadre.
A discovery that brought me the zeal, enthusiasm and ambition to want to liberate the subjects of my canvases, to give them life.
I seek to infuse the subjects of my paintings with the dynamism of moving images.
This also leads me to question traditional hanging: a "badly hung" work becomes an artistic gesture, a way for the painting to let slip and escape what it carries and to interact with the space, thus extending the movement beyond the surface.

Dance It Out
Récemment, je réalisais un projet vidéo avec quelques jeunes danseurs professionnels, tous profondément engagés socialement. Ils se retrouvaient régulièrement au centre 104Paris pour s’exprimer, danser leurs peines, mais aussi leurs espoirs et leurs joies.
Vous l’aurez compris, j’étais face à des jeunes qui, par leurs gestes bruts et la spontanéité des mouvements de leurs corps, brisaient les codes. Ils dégageaient une telle énergie qu’ils vous disaient, sans un mot :
« nous sommes là ».
In other words, I went to the 104 Paris center with a camera… and left with brushes refilled with a burning zeal to liberate, to free the subjects of my canvases, formerly frozen in a "boring" realism. (Previous works)
I had come with a camera and some spotlights to film. I had planned everything for these shoots… except to receive such an emotional and energetic discharge, which would overwhelm my little soul of a painter that I had left behind since leaving the Fine Arts, and which had been hiding until then behind the videographer.
